LETHEAN
Lethean
CD - MMP 412
Anekdoten
with a violin and without their too dark influences? We at Mellow think
that this band could be the next big thing. A music with rare intensity
which let any listener breathless. Completely instrumental, the band
develops a melancholy and at the same time tortured music. Special thanks
to Loris the Lizard man for discovering this gem!

MONTEFELTRO
Il pesce rosso........
CD - MMP 413
Nine
long years after their acclaimed debut here they are with their follow
up studio album. This project has been wholly conceived by singer/guitarist
Attilio Virgilio, the only original member featured. Musically far from
their first one, Il Pesce Rosso is a mix of several influences: it features
new prog melodic lines melted with some jazzy and world music inspired
passages

HAIKARA
Tuhkamaa
CD - MMP 414
The
best album of 2001? Anyway a great honor for Mellow and a pleasure to
have one of my favourite bands of all times on my label. New album from
reformed version of the classic Finnish prog band. Strong jazzy feel
emphasizing sax and cello. They have a distinctive mix between prog
and avant-garde with a sound that is representative of Finnish bands.
A masterpiece.

PERCEPTION
Perception
CD - MMP 415
First reissue of this
Futura label jazz-rock/Zeuhl Music album, originally issued in 1971.
Led by Jeff Seffer (aka Yochk'o Seffer) on bass-clarinet, soprano &
tenor saxes, along with Siegfried Kessler piano, electric piano), Didier
Levallet (bass) and Jean-My Truong (drums). Shortly after this Yochk'o
Seffer joined Magma (on such classics as Mekanick Kommando & 1001°
Centigrades) and then later founded Zao. "Colour splashes, melting
magma, he plays like he paints and sculpts: he is the melting pot of
the dancing lyricism of his compatriot Bartok, the Coltranian fire and
the self proclamations of a Monk with a multi-instrumental virtuoso
(from sopranino to bass saxophone) and with an endless passion

OVERHEAD
Zumanthum
CD - MMP 416
One of the best surprises
that I met in my long activity as a band finder. From Finland, all very
young guys, they show a surprising maturity.
Modern progressive rock with a glance to the classic of the past Camel?)
their music is refined and elegant with well-built melodies, clear and
powerful vocals quiet and contrasted parts , sophisticated arrangements
and great instrumental parts.

NOTTURNO
CONCERTANTE
Riscrivere
il passato
CD
- MMP 417
This
album is a pleasant blend of traditional, almost medieval, and more
modern elements, in style blending classical traditional Italian prog
and Riverdance type music. The tracks are more gentle than striking,
making this a pleasant listen. As a whole, the music that is presented
on this album can be defined as a melodious blend of Neo and Classic
Symphonic Progressive with quite accessible and beautiful arrangements.
Another great album from one of the fathers of the renaissance of italian
prog of the nineties.

GROUP
THERAPY
Melatomania
CD - MMP 418
Melatomania is so astonishingly
unique that can change the "average" attitude to Jazz-Fusion
rather radically. This is not only a real Prog-killer: this work is
incredibly innovative from the first to the last note - even in the
approach to implantation of the 5-tone Eastern parts to the traditional
compositional structures.

SUBMARINE
SILENCE
Submarine Silence
CD - MMP 419
Under this name hides
another project related with Cristano Roversi of Moongarden. It features
an instrumental album of original songs inspired by Genesis themes.
Try to imagine the same Tony Banks' el.piano sound or the characteristic
Hackett's arpeggios among others. Ref. Genesis

MOON
FOG PROPHET
Taunting tin bells...
CD - MMP 420
Another absolute masterpiece
from this well-known Finnish band at their fifth album. In 2001 a musical
play Pilkkaavat Tinakellot (Taunting Tin Bells) was executed in the
accommodations of Porin Teatterinuoret (Pori Theatre Youth), by the
band and fifteen assistants and actors. The six shows performed were
a success both in public and in critique. In January 2001 the same musical
play (written by Mika Rättö himself, also playing the leading
role) was performed in Telakka, Tampere for four times
And now we will publish the majestic Moon Fog Prophet CD Taunting Tin
Bells Through The Mammal Void based on the aforementioned musical play.
This dramatic masterpiece has been waiting for its release for some
time and will crystallize the group's career so far.
