The Nova Malà Strana band begins in December 1990 as a quartet and start to compose their own material, to perform concerts in Genoa as well as to participate in various events. In July 1991, after a few formation changes, Massimiliano Fattorini (ex Bloody Eyes, Defect) joins the band permanently as solo guitar. In 1991 and 1992 the band performs various concerts, participate in numerous musical events (one is broadcast on MTV). During one of the concerts in the various local places they are detected by a producer of an independent record company: that is why in December 1992 they start recording in the "Times Sound " studio the bases of 10 songs. Their music is very personal and varied referable on the whole to Heavy Metal and Rock Progressive. Their demo tape, called "Opera…", consists of 6 songs, and was recorded at the same studio. In February 1997 the keyboard - player Stefano Mori (ex Progetto Nemesi) joins the band; the formation is now the following:

• BACCIO ASTENGO: Rhythmical and acoustic guitars
• STEFANO BERTOLI: Drums and percussions
• MAX FATTORINI: Lead, rhythmical and acoustic guitars
• STEFANO MORI: Analogical and digital Keyboards, Hammond
• ANTONELLA SUELLA: Bass guitar and voice

In June 1993 they finish recording the Master in the studio and add a new song. In November 1993 they finish the album records and mixages: the album is ready in June for MELLOW RECORDS™; its title is "NOVA MALA` STRANA" (MMP 235) and consists of 9 songs for more than 50 minutes (the type of music is a gritty, experimental and very personal Heavy Rock Progressive). In 1994 the Nova Malà Strana start a long tour all over Italy; in April 1994 they reach the fourth position in the referendum of Italians bands in the "METAL HAMMER" which is the most important Hard Rock magazine in Europe. The CD gets excellent reviews both from the national and foreign press. In August 1995 they play in front of 2000 people at the EXPO` in Genoa and the Concert is broadcast live by the Swiss radio alive.

By the end of 1995 they start recording at the "Musical Box" studio their second album "NEMESI" (MMP 303) which will come out on April 1^st 1997 for MELLOW RECORDS™: the album contains 6 songs for more than 50 minutes, in English, partly in Latino, in the central part it leads to the "DIES IRAE" of the Titletrack "Nemesi"; some parts are recited in Italian as in the passage opening the album "The sound falls"; in NeMeSi the songs get a higher symphonic respite, thug remaing in the Heavy Progressive music. In Summer 1996 some TV and Radio stations using their songs for themes of sigle programmers; besides in the same period the group authorized the free use of their song "Second year after the rain" by the National Society for the Protection of Dog, for a spot against dog abandonment. By the end of 1996 they start their new tour called "NeMeSi on tour … '97" which will take them around Italy for the whole 1997. In January 1997 in an article of "METAL SHOCK", the most popular Hard RocK magazine in Italy, they are considered one of the best groups of 1996. . In March 1997 they play how Headliner in the Hollywood Concert Festival at Palasport in Genoa. At present the Nova Malà Strana band are engaged in composing new material for their future third album as well as in the promotion of "NeMeSi".
